Two Socks Is Much More Than a Gin Bar – It’s a Sensory Experience

"We just want you to stay five minutes longer," says Susanne Simonsen from Two Socks – and that feeling captures the essence of the place. Two Socks isn’t just a gin bar; it’s a universe of experiences where all senses are awakened. The atmosphere is cozy, the music soft, and the pace unhurried. The concept is aimed at a mature audience seeking a true gourmet experience that stimulates taste, smell, and sight alike.

Two Socks isn’t only about serving gin. It’s a place where guests gain in-depth knowledge about gin and experience a unique approach to flavor. Susanne explains that they work with the "DNA of the gin," ensuring each flavor note is brought out in the right way. For example, a gin with orange as one of its key notes will never be served with lime – only orange peel, to maintain balance and harmony.

Online Gin Tastings Became a Gamechanger for Two Socks in 2020

In May 2020, Two Socks opened a new gin bar in Odense. And even though the pandemic imposed many limitations, their plans remained clear: Copenhagen is next when Denmark reopens. But how do you handle a lockdown when your business is built on physical experiences?

Susanne and her partner Simon had long considered how to bring the Two Socks experience from the bar to their webshop customers. The pandemic became the catalyst for their first online gin tasting event, where customers could order tasting kits and join live on Facebook. The first event exceeded all expectations. "We would’ve been happy selling 20 boxes, but the response was overwhelming," Susanne Simonsen, Two Socks. Customers could choose between sweet or spiced gin selections, and the event was a great success.

Two Socks' innovative approach gained media attention, and Danish TV station TV2 featured the concept early on, boosting visibility and awareness of their tastings. The format has since evolved into a flexible model – customers can now stream tastings whenever it suits them and enjoy the drinks at their own pace.

Digital Corporate Events Fueled New Growth for Two Socks During Lockdown

Demand for online gin tastings grew further when many companies had to cancel Christmas parties and other social events. Two Socks responded by offering digital tastings for businesses – and they became a major success. Susanne is confident they’ll continue offering these events as long as the demand is there.

”The future is digital – but the physical still matters too,” Susanne Simonsen, Two Socks.
She sees a clear benefit in how their new concepts have reached customers who would never have been able to visit the bars in person. That’s why their digital solutions are here to stay.

Crisis Sparked Growth and New Opportunities at Two Socks

Susanne is honest about the challenges COVID-19 brought – but she remains hopeful. ”When you’re fighting for your company’s survival, you find another gear – and it’s incredibly motivating to see new projects succeed.” Susanne Simonsen, Two Socks.
