What Does Our Gazelle Status Mean for You?

Cecilia Rosenkilde is the Marketing Manager at pensopay, specializing in content marketing within the fintech industry. She focuses on CSR strategy and CMS optimization to create valuable content and robust digital solutions.

Becoming a Børsen Gazelle is a dream for most start-ups. It signifies significant business growth, which is great. But what does it mean for you?

At pensopay, we received our third Gazelle in 2023, and we’re incredibly proud of that achievement. It required countless hours in front of the computer, numerous phone calls, and close teamwork. Along the way, we had to make tough decisions, move into new offices, and welcome new colleagues. It didn’t come easy, which is exactly why this recognition means so much to us.

“When starting a business, the Gazelle award is one of the key milestones, and it still is for us, even eight years later,” Danny Christensen, co-founder pensopay.

The Gazelle Status is Special for Several Reasons

Becoming a Gazelle company requires positive net revenue growth every year, with a minimum of 100% growth over four years. You can read all of Børsen's requirements here.

The Gazelle Award symbolizes all the positive achievements within the company. It fosters pride and motivation among the team behind pensopay. Being employed at a Gazelle company confirms that you are dedicating your time to a growing business. Additionally, the Gazelle Award builds confidence in our customers and investors, as it signals a certain level of reliability.

”I love that it’s a physical award because everything we work with isn't something you can hold in your hands. With the Gazelle statue, you have a definitive recognition of what you've achieved, making it feel more real. Plus, the fact that the Gazelle figure is beautiful adds to its significance,” Pierre Rindsig, CEO, pensopay.

Elephant, Mouse and Gazelle

For the Gazelle Award ceremony in Odense, the executive editor of Berlingske, Niels Lunde, and journalist Tina Riising enlightened us on why the gazelle was chosen as a symbol for fast-growing companies. After all, there are many different animals on the savanna.

The elephant is the large mastodon that takes up a lot of space and has significant revenue, but without much growth. However, sometimes the elephant's size works against it: while the elephant is very stable, it is not as agile.

The mouse often illustrates the struggle for survival in a competitive market. These companies must be innovative and efficient, which typically requires hard work, creativity, and commitment. Many large corporations started as small mice, gradually growing by leveraging their strengths and opportunities.

What Are the Benefits of Collaborating with a Gazelle company?

Gazelle companies are often known for their approach to innovative solutions. Being driven by a desire to find the latest and best solutions to meet our customers needs is one of the primary missions at pensopay. Our customers are the reason we exist, so their needs are always our main focus.

Gazelle companies cannot survive without a high level of customer support and care. Additionally, they are accustomed to managing growth and scaling their operations. Even when demand increases, the availability of products or services is ensured to meet customer needs.

  • Innovative solutions
  • Skilled in navigating growth and scaling their operations
  • High level of customer service

To sum up, collaboration with a Gazelle company offers customers and partners access to high quality, innovation, reliability, and dedicated customer service.

Is There Potential for Another Gazelle?

“We have the opportunity to receive a fourth consecutive Gazelle next year, which would make us a marathon Gazelle. This is a significant milestone, and that's one of the reasons we are striving for continued growth,” Pierre Rindsig, CEO, pensopay.

We congratulate all the Gazelles and thank our customers and partners for their collaboration. We hope that together we can create the types of businesses we each dream of.

Thank you to our customers and partners. We look forward to making the business even better next year.
