We understand if some of you have been confused... To be honest, it hasn’t been easy for us either. But don’t worry, we’ve got it under control. In July, Shopify decided to shut down their payment app. That's why we developed a new pensopay app to solve the issue.
Earlier this summer, Shopify announced they were shutting down their payment app. As a result, their customers' payment solutions stopped working after July 31, 2022.
The shutdown of Shopify's app meant that you could no longer process payments, and it would also be impossible to manage old orders.
We understand that many people prefer Shopify as their e-commerce platform. Shopify is one of the most popular e-commerce platforms in the world. We know that several of our competitors have chosen not to offer this solution for Shopify, which has led them to discontinue their partnership with Shopify. Of course, this is not something we are interested in doing here at pensopay. See here which other integrations we also support.
For years, we've had to buy access to our competitor's app, Quickpay, to handle Shopify customers, as Shopify hasn't allowed new payment providers on their platform. On all other e-commerce platforms, we have our own app.
As the first in Denmark to start building the new payment app for Shopify, we ensured that all payment methods were ready and the app functioned flawlessly at launch.
The benefit for you is clear: with the pensopay app, you no longer need to process payments through another provider.
At pensopay, we have helped over 1,500 customers transition to the new app.
The change took place during the summer, a time when many are on vacation and employees are unavailable, making it difficult to dedicate time and resources to getting familiar with the new system. Payments are a sensitive topic, and most businesses prefer not to interfere with them. Therefore, the idea of uninstalling an entire payment solution and replacing it with a new one can feel intimidating, which we completely understand.
We worked hard to help you and made several attempts to ensure everyone was transferred to the new pensopay app.
For our employees, this meant that our customer service and developers worked throughout the entire summer, handling over 1,500 individual updates. We were also challenged as half of our team was on vacation. There were some truly dedicated employees who worked extra hard in July to make this happen. We want to give them an extra shout-out! We estimate that we’ve helped around 90% of you with the new setup. It was very important for us that the transition happened without any 'downtime' on your webshop. We've made every effort to show you why pensopay is the right place to be. We hope we've succeeded in doing so.
If you're using Shopify and find that your payment solution isn't working, make sure to double-check that you have installed the new pensopay app.
It’s still possible for you to switch to the new app. Remember – we’re more than happy to help!
A huge thank you to all our patient customers and the colleagues who went above and beyond to make this a success.
