SEPA stands for Single Euro Payments Area and is an initiative created by the European banking sector, supported and integrated by the European Central Bank and the European Commission.
The goal is to make all electronic euro payments in Europe as secure, fast, and efficient as domestic transfers through a common set of rules and unified technical standards.

The system operates by bringing 36 European countries together under a single set of rules and standardized technical requirements. This means the distinction between receiving a payment locally or from another country in Europe disappears entirely in your checkout.
When a customer selects SEPA at checkout, they enter their IBAN and BIC code and approve a direct debit mandate—giving permission to withdraw the funds.
