At pensopay, we’ve analyzed when your customers are most ready to make a purchase and which payment methods they prefer. We’re revealing the busiest day for webshop owners and sharing insights into the times of the week when your customers shop the most.

As an entrepreneur and webshop owner, it’s always valuable to keep an eye on your customers’ purchasing behavior. Detailed insights can help you plan your marketing activities, determine when your customer service team should be ready at their keyboards or phones, and perhaps schedule webshop updates for days with less activity.

The Days Consumers Prefer to Shop

It turns out that Monday is the biggest day for online shopping, followed closely by Tuesday and Wednesday. In contrast, sales tend to dip over the weekend before picking up again on Sunday. This makes sense, as most people spend their weekends with family and friends, generally opting to focus on other activities rather than being on their phones or computers during Friday and Saturday.

On Sundays, however, there’s more time to relax, making it the perfect opportunity to shop for those shoes or pants you didn’t get around to buying earlier in the week.

We’ve also looked at when you, as a webshop owner, are busiest handling orders throughout the week. When do you need to lace up your running shoes at work to get the most packages out the door?

When Are Orders Usually Shipped?

The results show that Monday is the busiest packing day for webshop owners. This is also the day when money is withdrawn from the customer’s account. Additionally, the Monday rush may be due to new stock arriving - perhaps items that had been sold out - making it the perfect opportunity to deliver good news to customers and get their orders shipped out.

Which Payment Methods Do Your Customers Prefer?

Visa and Mastercard remain the major players in the market, so it’s essential to ensure your webshop’s payment system is well set up. However, over 55% of transactions are made via MobilePay, with payment cards behind those transactions.
