Denmark isn’t lacking women with great ideas or entrepreneurial ambition. On the contrary. What’s missing is access – access to the right networks, funding, and visible role models. Because even though the potential is there, the opportunities still lag behind.

Who’s Getting the Investments?

Even though women in Denmark have no shortage of innovative ideas, the numbers show a clear imbalance we can’t ignore. In 2024, just 1% of all investments went to teams made up exclusively of female founders, according to a report from the Dansk Erhverv.

Only 27% of Danish entrepreneurs are women – and when it comes to startup investments, just 1.3% go to all-female founding teams. That puts Denmark well below the OECD average for female entrepreneurship.

These numbers make one thing clear: we still have a long way to go before women have a fair chance to launch and scale their own businesses. Not because they lack ideas – but because the system around them needs to do a better job of backing them.

Visibility Builds Confidence: Why Role Models Matter

Role models play a crucial role in inspiring more women to pursue entrepreneurship. When you see someone who looks like you – with similar doubts, dreams, and challenges – succeed in starting and running a business, it becomes easier to believe you can do the same.
