Klædeskabet.dk: From Dream to Successful Webshop

Klædeskabet.dk was founded in 2018, shortly after Mikkel finished his HHX education. In the beginning, Mikkel wore most of the hats, but over the years, he has built a strong team with whom he now runs the business.

From Student to Webshop Owner

Klædeskabet.dk is an online store that primarily sells women’s clothing and fashion. Mikkel completed his HHX in 2018. At a family gathering, he chatted with his uncle about his dream of starting a webshop. By the following Monday, the plans were in motion.

Today, Mikkel is 25 years old and runs Klædeskabet.dk in collaboration with SoMe Manager Katrine Andersen and the rest of the team. Mikkel focuses on paid advertising and the technical aspects of the webshop, while Katrine is responsible for live shopping, all social media platforms, and product sourcing for the shop.

Mikkel explains that the most exciting part of running a webshop, compared to a traditional brick-and-mortar store, is the broader reach. Your storefront isn’t limited to a single location- you can reach customers across all of Denmark. Mikkel doesn’t hide the fact that he also dreams of expanding internationally.

I made an ad for a pair of jeans priced at 79 DKK, and we were flooded with orders. We ended up packing for 14 days straight, often late into the night. It was an amazing experience,” Mikkel Dam Jespersen, Klædeskabet.dk.

Never Fit the 9-to-5 Mold

"I never really felt like I fit into a 9-to-5 job. When I was in elementary school, my teacher asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I answered, ‘entrepreneur.’ She told me that you can’t just become that. It only fueled my determination, making me read even more books and research what it takes to become an entrepreneur," Mikkel Dam Jespersen, Klædeskabet.dk.

For Mikkel, the driving force has been his passion for the business and the responsibility of making things succeed.

In the early days, Mikkel wore all the hats. He packed orders late into the night, answered the phone, and handled everything himself. His dream was to have just one more person to help him. Today, there’s a full team behind Klædeskabet, where they’ve built a great workplace with happy employees.

 

Klædeskabet.dk's Growth and Future Aspirations

"Since we started, we've moved offices and warehouses four times, which reflects our growth in both the B2B and B2C markets. It's crucial for us to have inventory on hand, so having plenty of space is key," Mikkel Dam Jespersen, Klædeskabet.dk.

Today, things are going well at Klædeskabet.dk. Sales are strong, and Mikkel shares that he and the team are working on expanding into new markets

"A piece of advice for others looking to start their own e-commerce journey is to just go for it. Sometimes, I think it’s too risky to spend too much time overthinking every detail and every move. You could also say that the experience we've built up over time and the challenges we face only make us stronger," Mikkel Dam Jespersen, Klædeskabet.dk.
